Walk & Roll Leader (Committee Captain)

The Walk & Roll Leader is the “hub” of the Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD planning team—keeping everything connected, moving forward, and feeling doable. This role serves as the primary volunteer leader and main point person for the event, working in partnership with FSHD Society staff to guide the committee, align on goals, and make sure key deadlines don’t sneak up. The Walk & Roll Leader doesn’t have to do everything—but they help make sure everything gets done by the right people at the right time.

Key responsibilities include hosting quick, friendly check-ins (think: short calls or group texts that keep momentum), keeping the committee focused on the top priorities, and helping recruit and organize the core team. The Walk & Roll Leader supports problem-solving along the way—helping the group make decisions about the event experience, delegating tasks, and removing roadblocks so others can be successful. On event day, the Walk & Roll Leader helps oversee the big picture, making sure the event feels welcoming, mission-forward, and well-coordinated from start to finish.
