A Walk & Roll Committee Member supports the planning and success of the Walk & Roll to Cure FSHD by taking on a few clear, manageable tasks that match their interests and availability. Committee Members are the “doers” who help the event come to life—whether that’s making outreach calls, sharing posts, helping with a specific project, or pitching in on event day. This role is designed to be flexible: you don’t need event experience—just a willingness to help and follow through.
Committee Members work alongside the Walk & Roll Leader and role leads (Teams & Fundraising, Sponsorship & Outreach, Logistics, Registration/Volunteers) to complete assigned tasks and meet event milestones. They help expand the event’s reach into the community, create a welcoming participant experience, and strengthen the mission impact of the day.
Time Commitment: 2–5 hours per month, on average (more if desired as event day approaches)
Responsibilities Can Include:
▪ Attend occasional committee check-ins and respond to updates as needed.
▪ Take ownership of 1–2 specific tasks (examples below) and provide quick progress updates.
▪ Help recruit participants by inviting friends/family, sharing registration links, or distributing flyers.
▪ Support team growth by identifying potential Team Captains or reaching out to new teams with a warm welcome.
▪ Assist with sponsor outreach by sharing business leads, making introductions, or delivering sponsor materials.
▪ Help with logistics projects such as creating signage, assembling supplies, or coordinating a small donation pick-up.
▪ Support mission and engagement by helping with a mission table, photo moment, or participant welcome activities.
▪ Pitch in on event day by volunteering for a shift (set-up, check-in, route support, water station, clean-up, etc.).
▪ Help with post-event wrap-up including thank-you messages, sponsor gratitude, and sharing event photos/highlights.
